The problem is knowing where to start and with so many dangers out there, and all of them growing increasingly sophisticated by the day, it can be hard to know which malware can do what and how. And sometimes it can be tempting to dismiss certain types of malicious software as 'not as bad' as the others - take adware or Potentially Unwanted Programs that create primtwv.com pop-up ads for example. The fact is that cyber criminals, spammers, software developers, call them what you will are always on the look out for more sophisticated ways to fool us. Therefore how can we really know what a particular program will do to us. And of course, to compound that problem is the fact that having one rogue installation on your computer can open up a portal to allow others to infect you too.
So what of the aforementioned Potentially Unwanted Programs? These are not technically classed as malware as they are downloadable and, although you may not knowing you're downloading one, you actually will have been given a (reasonably) fair warning. Also known as PUPs for short, or sometimes foistware, these programs are usually bundled with other software. Meaning that when you download Program A - if it has a PUP packaged with it, you'll also be downloading Potentially Unwanted Program B. And most of the time, program B has misleading EULA or doesn't have it at all. Very often users don't even understand where these primtwv.com pop-ups are coming from. Most of the time, they are displayed by potentially unwanted programs that came bundled with other applications, mostly adware.
So how do you know? The trick is to read the End User License Agreement carefully. You know - that boring box of text that so many of us flippantly click through without paying any attention in order to download our software more quickly. If you took the time to read the EULA a little more carefully you may just find that your desired Program A also comes bundled with a little added extra that the agreement will 'suggest' you also download. This may be a toolbar, a browser, a home page or adverts like primtwv.com. It's true that the wording might be a little ambiguous and it will try to make the PUP look as officially affiliated with the original program as possible and it may check or uncheck boxes in advance that give the PUP the go-ahead to install, but by exercising a little due care and attention, you should be able to avoid it.
If it's already too late on your computer is flooded with annoying and misleading primtwv.com pop-up pop-ups and ads, then please follow the steps in the removal guide below. If you have any questions, please leave a comment down below. Good luck and be safe online!
